In bidding farewell to 2021, we know we have a lot be grateful for, especially our dedicated team members, our beloved residents, and our supportive families. Everyone in our communities brings unique skills, backgrounds, and perspectives that help shape the Sunrise experience and create wonderfully warm, engaging, and inviting homes.

As we pause and reflect on the past year, we cant help but be proud of all weve accomplished together. This includes a robust rollout of onsite COVID-19 vaccination, booster, and flu shot clinics, which have provided a crucial layer of protection for our communities, especially as the worldwide pandemic enters a new phase fueled by the Omicron variant. Just last month, Sunrise also reached an impressive milestone 40 years of Shining Bright and furthering our mission of championing quality of life for all seniors.

As ever, we place high value on constant, candid feedback from all of you. Without it, we cannot continue to meet the needs and expectations of current and future residents. This year, we have taken a number of actions based on what youve shared with us to help further improve your Sunrise experience. Some of those actions include:

  • Introduced a new way of operating safely during the pandemic with more group activities, opened dining rooms, and more visitors. We heard from so many of our residents and families how excited they were to once again enjoy common areas, community celebrations, and most importantly, more visitors so our residents can make and maintain those critical in-person connections that they hold dear. As we move forward, we will continue working to support our residents and take steps guided by health officials to help keep them healthy and safe while enjoying all the benefits of the Sunrise lifestyle.
  • Expanded Family Communications. With a new digital monthly newsletter, regular weekly updates from community leaders, and the adoption of the Smile Family Engagement App, we now have more ways than ever to keep you actively informed and receive real-time feedback.
  • Enhanced Lifestyle Offerings. Based on feedback, we have adapted our monthly activities calendars to allow opportunities for all residents to Live With Purpose. We continue to share more on offerings and important aspects of community life, including our menus, in the Smile app. We also launched a new Dining Experience survey to capture ongoing feedback and help improve the overall experience. Expect even more positive changes to our lifestyle offerings in 2022.

As we begin this new year, we are excited to continue finding even more ways to enhance your experience, improve our communities, and evolve our offerings based on what we hear from all of you. We are also committed to furthering our focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, and fostering a sense of belonging for everyone to ensure Sunrise truly is a home for all.

As Sunrise looks toward the future, we firmly believe the best is yet to come. We encourage you to continue sharing your unique stories and honest feedback every chance you get. We know it is the people that make the Sunrise experience so special, and were so grateful for the countless team members and families who have chosen to embark on a Sunrise journey of their own.
